Hello all! I realize that a lot of you have been busy lately with school and what not coming to an end. Finals are tough times. I remember going through them in April. Haha. Anyways. But we also have gone through a lot in the last little bit on the site. Things have been active, which is awesome, yay everyone on the site! But when version five came around there were a lot of complaints, i know at first it was difficult for me to adjust to but after a while i learned to really love it. But also during this i also took the time to indulge in jcink. It took me a really long time but i think i've got some understanding of it now. Although i don't seem to be getting much a response from anything else that was meant for discussion on here i'm hoping that this might evoke something more. Just a reminder that all of these bulletin messages are mandatory to read and take part in. Anyways. This is a discussion of whether or not we want to remain on Proboards or if you guys would want me to make this site on JCINK for us to transfer over there. For anyone worried that it would be so much different, actually Proboards v5 and JCINK are extremely similar. The only differences i've found is the use of doHTML. So, we are going to have some pros and cons going on and talk about it. If there is a majority rule over moving to JCINK than we will do it. If not, then we will remain here! So, discuss! PROS:- JCINK uses doHTML which opens more templates
- some might argue that it's more aesthetically pleasing
CONS:- all old threads will be here
- you'll have to remake applications, plotters, threads

I'm honestly fine either or, keeping it here or moving. Another reason I can see for moving, however, is just the mass movement everyone has taken to go onto jcink sites, and how much more popular they are. i know even before v5 came around, people took really well to jcink sites and they're just the new hip and cool way to go about rpg sites. and then after v5, i know a few sites that just shut down completely and moved to jcink because of the changes. so we could possibly get more members and the such over there. also, like, it wouldn't be too much work transferring all the important things over there, and you could always keep this open in a way for people to see their old threads if need be. and if everyone took their applications and moved them over, it would be fine. they wouldn't need to be accepted again so? the one thing I worry/think about is just the older applications, and if we would re-do those ones or just find a way to move the older ones over as well. but i mean, i know a lot of people will probably support the move to jcink, and i do enjoy the coding capabilities over there and the such.
(i just wish people would give v5 a chance its actually pretty neat theres a lot of better things going on and proboards did change for the better its just such a massive change on a host that many people were tired with already so they were like 'kay yeah bye now'.)

Lately I've been more comfortable with jcink coding and stuff but that's because, as Heather said, there's been somewhat of a mass migration to jcink sites. Now that some things have been cleaned up and such, I don't mind v5 as much but I still feel like there's a far larger selection of templates for DOHTML than there is for v5 and for someone coding-impaired like me who doesn't know how to convert between v4 and v5 it'd be a lot easier to switch, I think. Plus, remaking plotters/apps/etc. would be good (at least for me, since I've been around for a while and my characters are older-ish) because over the year I've been here my characters have developed and so have I so I can write them better and more sophisticatedly.
To summarize, my answer is it's easier on /me/ personally, even with the remaking of everything, but I totally understand that there's a pretty significant workload that would fall on you guys as the admins so I can see why there would be reasons to not switch.
(ps sorry for my bad attitude at the switch oh man i am not good at change.)

it's cool that both of you are okay with a move as well as staying here. Because of doHTML we would have to write up a new application, and it would be similar to the new one over the old one. Which is an issue for the characters that have been around a longer time. I don't think we'd need to re-accept the characters that are on here as long as they are the same characters, we could just post the "accepted" blahblahblah and move them.
Another thing is, i know that as an ADMIN i have figured out the stuff behind JCINK and even just moving a thread is significantly different than it is on Proboards, so my other concern is for Heather who i'm not sure if you know everything, would want to learn anything to do with it and if that would mean you'd want to remain an admin. Since we live together if you really wanted to learn it it's not that hard for me to physically show you when you get back because i imagine IF we moved it would probably take a few days just to create something we can look at let alone move our applications in. I know on JCINK i would feel more comfortable with at least two people that sort of have an idea of what's going on within the site, not just with doHTML but with the admin panel because it's really over whelming at first (considering it scared me for a year before i forced myself to learn it three weeks ago).
But i also super agree with the wider audience appeal. Even just joining other sites in the past when they realized i was an admin on a proboards they were like "how? ick" and there's always been more of s stigma going from jcink or invisions to proboards than there has the other way around.

I would honestly love to learn jcink and its more complex inner workings, and definitly how to move threads and the such. i barely know how to code it and such but i'm pretty darn good at learning this stuff so like i'm guessing if you were to show me and i were to poke around and the such i could pick it up pretty quick.

awesome! i know there are still a few other people that might want to add to the discussion and such, although outside of here i have talked to Nova and Anise in the past over the possibility and they didn't seem to have any real objections, but if they post anything in here as well that'd be cool too. i do already have the domain name on there for a potential "safelittlethoughts" on jcink. Currently i'm working on / finishing another jcink site and when i am done with that one i'll probably work on the other one (being actors). But THIS is the current domain... obviously it won't look like that forever and if there is any input by people on here that can be commented on here of course.
