Now that that middle school and high school was back in session there were a lot of students that would come in on their breaks or right after class just to goof around or show off to their friends. Elias had to hold in so many things he wanted to say to these kids. There were only a few times where he would stick his nose in on their conversations. Whenever a kid started naming off some guitar brands from the wall Elias would not-so-cassually tell him that he was wrong and that the guitar he was actually looking at was a flying-v. There was one point where he actually said to one, more particularly cocky boy in the store, "you can't assume that all guitars are Gibson." When he said that his manager looked at him from across the store, shook his head as a way to tell Eli he needed to back off. Regardless of if his manager may have agreed with him or not Eli still needed to remember that the customers came first… no matter how ignorant they could be.
After work Elias decided he was too tired to even want to go home and make anything for food. It was a habit that he had gotten into within the last week where he would call the pizza place as he was walking home so that the delivery guy would be there shortly after he came home. As for today, he decided to head into Dairy Queen mostly because he needed something sweet in his life. The sugar rush might even give him enough energy until he ultimately decided he would be too tired to do too much.
There wasn't too much of a line but enough for Elias to look around and have his mind preoccupied by the different cakes in the cooler closest to the counter. He could see the teenage mutant turtles cartoon painted on the top of a cake and he couldn't help but smile out of pure nostalgia. "Next," one of he girls at the counter called out and the person in front of Eli moved forward towards her to place an order. Good. He'd be next. Out of habit he looked up at the menu as if he was trying to decide what he'd want but he already knew. It was typically the same for him every time he came here. "Next."
"Hey can i get the chicken strip basket with a peanut buster parfait, no i don't want any gray with that thank you," It seemed so rehearsed. He imagined that there were probably some workers that already had his order memorized. Caroline is a small town, Elias is a Kastra, these two factors alone made it hard not to recognize his face.
When the girl told him his number, instead of holding back from the counter or finding a place to sit until his food was ready he turned his body to the restaurant and looked around while his hands still held onto the ledge of the counter. He couldn't help but constantly be looking around at things. He was over observant... or maybe even just paranoid of his surroundings. It was a subconscious trait he'd probably never be able to get rid of until he day he passed over into hell.
and here you go, an open post for you [:

[atrb=width,400] tales of love & hatred Her psychology class had been getting out at least twenty minutes late for the past few weeks and she was actually highly enjoying it because that meant more time away from home, and from her parents. Plus, she had to take the bus which meant more time away from her parents because her parents did not yet want to buy her a car until she was twenty-one which it was their money, so she didn't really care. This town wasn't that big and she honestly didn't need a car anyways. She was content with walking everywhere, but her parents did not want her to do that because they were afraid something bad might happen to her. She sighed as she waited on the bench for the bus to come, but her stomach began to growl. She blushed because it sounded like Chewbacca and hugged it, trying to make the noise stop. The people around her looked in the opposite direction of her, probably feeling embarrassed to be seen next to her. She got up and walked away, knowing that fast food restaurants were near by the college campus.
She had never been a huge fan of McDonald's; there was just something about it that did not sit right with her stomach. The next fast food place she ran into was Dairy Queen, which actually sounded good for once. She quickly texted her parents saying that she had a study group meeting in the campus library and would be home in about an hour and a half, at the most waiting time. She hated lying to her parents, but they would not like her being at a fast food restaurant instead of eating at home with the rest of them. She pulled out her wallet to make sure she had cash and her mother couldn't check her transaction bill. Twenty dollars. Perfect. Since she had never really gotten out much, she actually had to look at the menu to see what looked either kind of attractive or not at all.
Dani finally decided on a chili cheese dog with a side of fries and an ice tea. She knew that her parents would kill her for even thinking about eating fast food. She readjusted her hat as the lady at the cash registered said the word 'Next'. She held her wallet in both her hands, twisting it around and softly spoke, "Chili cheese dog meal and a medium drink please." She looked down to pull the twenty out of her nintendo wallet. She handed the lady the cash and wash given change. The cashier handed her the receipt and handed her a cup for a drink.
Dani made her way over to the area where you can get drinks and filled the cup half with ice and then with some ice tea. It had been, well, never since she drank soda. Her parents called soda "evil" and that it's such a bad drink for you. She sighed and got a straw, quickly putting it in the drink she had just gotten. She held the drink in both her hands, knowing that she was very clumsy, and went back to wait at the counter. However, she quickly turned to the side and ran into someone, dropping her drink to the floor. Her eyes grew wide and she went down to pick up the cup and lid. Once she got back up, she set the now empty cup on the counter and turned to the person she had run into, "I am so sorry." She fixed her skirt and checked herself for any ice tea she may have spilled on her. She looked back up at the man she just ran into, "Did I get any tea on you?"
She quickly looked the male over, not really seeing any tea stains on him, which was probably good for her; and for the guy of course. She looked up at the menu; Dairy Queen had good ice cream, right? "I feel really bad for running into you. Can I get you a milkshake or something?" She still had left over cash, so she would be good for the time being. Besides, if she had to use the card, she could always find an excuse like, the library group thing. They all pitched in to buy pizza. She silently sighed to herself, hating to lie to her parents. She should really not make a habit out of that.

He knew this would end up happening. Every time he ordered chicken from anywhere there was always some sort of weird hold on it. Elias never brought himself to work in the fast food industry. It was a little promise he made to himself when he was younger. Working in a place like this would be the sort of career that half the people in Caroline had already boxed him into. That was the last thing he wanted to be, was anything they expected out of him. Look at him now, he was an assistant manager at a guitar shop. When he first worked there he knew nothing about instruments but now he had enough knowledge to sustain himself quite well.
Elias went to go reach for the ice cream to nibble on it a bit. He was starved and didn't really care much about the classical order of which food would typically be eaten in. Food was food. He looked over to the counters that had the straws, spoons, and drink fountains and started his way over there to grab himself a long red spoon and start enjoying his meal.
Just as he was half a step away from getting to the spoon, the body in front of him ran right into him, and there was a sudden explosion of what appeared to be iced tea. He felt a few driblets fall on his face and a splash come up to the mid-drift of his shirt. In the surprise, he dropped the parfait, and the plastic containing it cracked to the ground. When he looked down there was a little bit of the cream leaking out of the bottom.
A light groan released from his mouth before the girl said much else than "sorry." He looked up at her in a swift moment, and then back down to the darker portion of his shirt, "Yeah… maybe just a little…" He couldn't help but roll his eyes in slight annoyance. He didn't really roll them at her, but rather the entire situation itself. Sometimes he just seemed to fall into these situations.
He bent himself over and reached for the parfait. In the corner of his eye, he noticed that someone was already about to clean up what had hit the floor. The ice cream seeped into his hands as he picked it up, and quickly threw it out, grabbing a napkin before his hands got any more sticky with the sugars. His eyes fell back onto the girl that ran into him, this time for real.
It would be safe to say he was surprised to see her. She was beautiful and the way her hair fell around her face framed an image that was easy for Eli to look into. His face pulled into a sincere smile at her offer, "No, don't worry about it, girly." The real surprise was more along the fact that he simply hadn't seen her before. Living in Caroline as long as he had, it was rare that he ran into someone that he hadn't already memorized their features to.
He started patting on the small portion of his shirt that had the iced tea in it in pathetic attempt to clean it out. It wasn't enough for someone to really notice, but he mostly did it out of strange ritual. "I'm sorry, but i don't know you, do it?" He spoke in more of a statement than a question.

[atrb=width,400] tales of love & hatred Dani was never the most coordinated person in the world; she knew that and so did her parents. Throughout her life, she has broken a numerous amount of glasses and tripped over more furniture than you can count. If Dani was going to look for a job soon, it would certainly not be anywhere like a museum. But, she should work on her balance skills before applying anywhere if she wanted to make money and not have to pay for things that she broke while on the job. She may have been responsible, but that didn't really help her out in the aspect of not hurting herself or breaking things.
When the blond accidentally ran into the male, apparently he had ice cream that dropped to the floor as well. She kind of wanted to crawl in a hole right now, but she needed to not do that and just face up and possibly buy this guy a new ice cream. Dani wanted to slam her face into a wall; it would be better than her pale face going red from blushing at the moment. She wasn't sure what to do at the time being. "I am so sorry," she wasn't sure what else to say to him other than that. What would anyone say? Well, someone who knew how to talk to other humans might ask if they could do something to make it up to them, but not Dani. Her human communication skills were limited to her parents and basically people at the college. Other than that, it was like a different planet.
When he bent down to grab the ice cream, she was going to grab some napkins, but he got up before she could even attempt to help out. In the corner of her eye, she saw someone heading this way to clean up the mess she had created. Great. That's all she needed was more embarrassment right now. She tried to take in deep breaths to hold her face back from turning even more red than it probably already was. She intertwined her fingers and waited for him to say something to her. She didn't care if it was going to be mean, she probably deserved it at the moment. She had spilt tea on him and his ice cream got dropped.
However, his words were not harsh; actually, pretty much the exact opposite. His voice didn't seem half as agitated as it had been at the beginning of this "meeting" and she wanted to ask him why, but she thought it would be a good idea to avoid a question like that. "Are you sure? I mean, you didn't even look a quarter of the way through the other one." She wouldn't bother him about it again if he were to still decline her offer though; Dani wasn't the type of person to push anything over the edge and trying to cross lines.
His question took her off gaurd, but this whole incident had taken her that way as well. "Probably not, no," she shook her head and her eyes glanced down at the floor, "I've been here for probably three months or so." Had it really been that long already? It felt like just yesterday she was still in New York, packing for the awful car trip here. Her parents had been on this kick of driving everywhere and "seeing the sights". It had been really annoying actually, but they quickly got over that when they got here. Her blue eyes managed to make their way back up to the guy, "My name is Dani, by the way."
She had enjoyed her name. Usually, girls who went by "Dani", it was short for Danielle or something. Not her. So, that was one thing she liked her parents for. Plus, her name was in a song. It was half of a song title actually. Red Hot Chili Peppers were her favorite, not just for that reason though; she just enjoyed their mellow sound and the singer's voice. She looked and saw her food was finally on the tray and looked back up at the guy, "Would you like to join me?" It seemed like a simple enough question. Plus, the people at the college were nice but she would never want to like, hang out with them outside of classes. She needed to meet more people and this was the way to do it.

Maybe six years ago, when his life was different he would have went wild, or else he would of tried to make some sort of a slick move in on this girl. But now, Elias was different. He wasn't nearly the person he was before. He also wasn't intoxicated nearly as much as he was when he was just on the brink of turning into the age of eighteen. There was a mess, it would be cleaned, and then things could fall back into the gear's regular motion.
"Really, it's okay," He responded to her apology. It was a swift moment, and before he knew it one of the workers brought out a bucket of water for the spill.
Elias allowed a small huff of air come out from his lips as he held a subtle laugh. Sure, the ice cream was delicious, and he had hardly indulged in it, but it was just ice cream. "It's alright, i'd just get fatter anyways,"He allowed himself to joke, sharing a smile with this girl, hoping that it would allow her to relax from the situation. As he looked at her he couldn't help but notice that she looked a little stressed about it in comparison to how Elias was feeling.
In her response, he sort of nodded along, allow himself to gather that he was right. "Nice to meet you Dani," He extended his hand, knowing that it was probably a little sticky, maybe too sticky to be shaking someones hand, but it was a gesture he was informed to, "I'm Eli."
His head turned back to the counter. By that time his meal was already placed on the tray for him. If he didn't sit with her, he'd just be sitting on his own, both of them still in the building, and he couldn't imagine any situation of that not being awkward, "Sure," He let his voice carry the note, and lifted his finger to signal for her to hold on a second. Quickly, he reached over and grabbed his tray and followed her to where ever she wanted to sit.
He couldn't be certain if it was because this place was so quiet that he finally decided to stay. It was the first time in a while where he finally had some sort of routine rather than flying over the ocean, back and forth in order to find some life he couldn't even be certain existed. Compared to the things he had experienced over seas, this diner was mediocre, definitely small town, but there was some sort of comfort in it for Garrett. The cheeky fifties styled decor, the uncomfortable booths, it was Garrett's own form of perfection.
"Is this like you're move or something, get their attention by pouring some ice tea on their shirt, and reeling them in with the offer of ice cream?" He laughed silently at his own little joke, already opening up to the idea of getting to know Dani, who was currently short of an acquaintance. He didn't know his past, and this might be an opportunity for him to not have to live up to any expectation other than what Elias has for himself.
