Hello, everyone! I'm sure by now it is more than evident that version five of proboards is here. This thread is open for everyone to reply to and discuss the changes, as well as help one another out. Slowly i have been learning how it works and although it is greatly different from v4 it's all starting to make sense in my head. I know change can be hard, especially with one that is so messy to threads that used proboards enhanced coding (which at this point is the only truly evident problem area at this moment in time). If there is anything you're curious about, or want to talk about in regards to v5, respond to this thread and we can talk about it. I will do my best to help you out with the knowledge i have gained from it so far.
Now, while it seems like there are a bunch of bad things about it, you as members actually aren't experiencing much of a change as the staff probably are with the exception of enhanced bbcoding. As i've mentioned before [atrb] coding is gone. Many templates used this and are going to have to change because of it. Instead, you can use [ table style=";" ] although it most likely will not translate 100%. I think that the [*div] versus the [*div style=";"] has already been addressed and has actually been changed on a lot of templates. Now we have to be a little more careful when creating them because they can be touchy when it comes to things like "width:300px" etc. If you are looking for a v5 friendly template there are tons on Back To Neverland. A great way to familiarize yourself with writing it yourself as well is to visit here.
Another great new feature on v5 is the automatic account link & switches. I know there were some glitchy codes in the past to do this on multiple forums but now it is automatic. So by clicking the two little guys at the bottom right hand corner of the screen you can switch accounts no problem. It also makes it easier to sign into all your accounts every day (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).
There are so many new, great features on the site that are, unfortunately, being over looked because of the harsh transition period going on. There are things such as saving posting templates in your profile, enabling drafts, notification and the easy to use bbcode and live preview for when you are posting a reply.
So like i said, if there is anything you have questions about or would like to discuss, let's try to limit it here rather than in the shout box! I hope everyone is doing okay switching around their thread templates if they need to be done and that you get used to the v5 soon!
